Actaea racemosa (black cohosh, black bugbane, black snakeroot, fairy candle; syn. Cimicifuga racemosa) is a plant of the buttercup family. It is native to eastern North America from the extreme south of Ontario to central Georgia, and west to Missouri and Arkansas.
