Calcaneal fracture
Calcaneal fracture, also known as Lover's fracture and Don Juan fracture, is a fracture of the calcaneus. It is usually caused by a fall from height. The name lover's fracture comes from the idea that an illicit lover, jumping from his paramour's bedroom window due to her husband's untimely return, may get such an injury. Calcaneal fractures are often accompanied by compression fractures of spinal vertebrae. The Bohler's angle is a normal anatomic landmark that should be looked for in plain x-ray films. If the angle is less than 20 degrees it indicates a compression of the calcaneus, as seen in jumping injuries.
