Cold sensation

Saline flush

Saline
A saline flush is the method of clearing out feeding tubes and intravenous lines (IVs) of any food, medicine, or other perishable liquids so that they can keep the area of entering clean and sterile. Typically, a syringe full of sterile saline is attached to a port in a feeding tube or IV line, and the saline is squirted into the line to clear it. Saline flushes are commonly used in chemotherapy treatments to rinse the IV line between drugs. This prevents potentially incompatible drugs from mixing in the IV line.
