Posterior cortical atrophy (PCA), also called Benson's syndrome, is most usually considered to be an atypical variant of Alzheimer’s disease. The disease causes shrinkage of the back part of the brain. It is a clinical syndrome in which complex visual processing is progressively disrupted owing to a neurodegenerative disorder.
