The Master of Surgery is an advanced qualification in surgery. It is most commonly abbreviated Ch.M. or M.S. , as well as M. Ch. and M. Chir. from its Latin name, Magister Chirurgiae or the English form of Master of Surgery. In short M. Ch Means - Super Speciality Degree (Master of Chirurgical) A typical taught program lasts between 1 and 3 years depending on mode of attendance. The possession of a medical degree is a prerequisite. There is also a similar Masters degree in Obstetrics (MAO) in Ireland.
